Support Groups

One of the most effective ways of dealing with depression and other mental illnesses is by building a strong support system for yourself. These groups provide hope, support, and help to better educate and inform yourself about mental illness. The groups offer peer support, videos, guest speakers, discussion, etc. The overall goal is to enhance the general
well-being of members, to improve their quality of life, to empower them to speak for themselves, and to enable them to work more effectively with health professionals, agencies and groups in the community.

The following groups are available through the Canadian Mental Health Association, Fredericton/Oromocto Region, Inc:

Mental Health Support Group
Support group for people who have a mental illness.. Pre-registration is required prior to attending the meetings.

Thursday, February 2 - Video "Not Just a Bad Day" (about Bipolar Disorder)

Friends and Family Mental Health Support Group
A support group for families or friends of a person with a mental illness.

Suicide Bereavement Support Group
For persons who have suffered a loss due to suicide.  Six week programs are offered throughout the year based on need. Information and support are available by calling or emailing the Canadian Mental Health Association Fredericton/Oromocto Region, Inc. office.
